Boys & Girls Clubs Launches Send a Kid To Camp Campaign
April 16, 2018
As the weather gets warmer, our thoughts turn to summer. Remember when the summer stretched before you filled with promise and untold adventures. Maybe you traveled to visit family and friends, maybe you vacationed, maybe you went to camp. The possibilities were endless. For the kids of the Boys & Girls Clubs, their options are much more limited.
Wouldn’t you love to be able to send a kid in need to camp this summer? $300 could do just that.
At the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeast Louisiana, our Summer Enrichment Program, which runs from June to July, impacts the lives of over 500 youth. Many of the summer enrichment activities are similar to the ones provided in the After School program but with more emphasis on social and cultural experiences, recreation, team-building via field trips and educational activities.
Children rotate all day through different activities such as computer lab, game room, arts & crafts, literacy classes, movie room, physical fitness & an array of educational field trips. The program provides them with an opportunity to develop their social skills and life enriching experiences.
This program also allows children to learn values such as friendship, honesty and teamwork by providing a safe and secure environment in which they can express and develop such relationships.
Field trips may include Audubon Zoo & Aquarium, Global Wildlife Refuge, swamp tours, swimming and more. By implementing well-designed and professionally-led programs, we are able to provide a safe educational and recreational environment that is conducive to personal growth and learning. We are truly committed to providing educational and life experiences that will help children grow and develop.
