Programs

Everything we do at Boys & Girls Clubs are designed to help youth, especially those in need, to succeed.  Through our afterschool program and summer camps, Boys & Girls Club professionals help kids continue to learn and grow beyond the traditional classroom, by building relationships and providing support and guidance through key transitions and developmental milestones from elementary through high school.

Boys & Girls Clubs offer diversified afterschool and summer activities that meet the interest of all youth in five core areas:

EDUCATION & CAREER

Boys & Girls Club afterschool and summer programs in this area focus on academic enrichment and school engagement. Every day, our Clubs provide homework help and tutoring through Power Hour. Other programs focus on career exploration (CareerLaunch), financial literacy (MoneyMatters) and technology (My.Future).

Our goal is to ensure that all Club members graduate from high school on time, ready for a post-secondary education and a 21st-century career.

Torch Club and Keystone Club are programs that help to foster the development of leadership skills. Youth of the Year is the premier national recognition program for Boys & Girls Club members, focusing on academic success, community service, life goals and public speaking.

SPORTS, FITNESS & RECREATION

Boys & Girls Clubs afterschool and summer programs in this area help kids develop fitness skills, a positive use of leisure time, appreciation for the environment and social and interpersonal skills. Our signature program in this area is Triple Play, a comprehensive health and wellness program that helps to improve overall health through daily fitness challenges, nutrition education, and activities to support positive relationships and cooperation.

Our goal is to ensure that Club members learn the skills necesary to live healthy lifestyles.

THE ARTS

Boys & Girls Clubs afterschool and summer programs in the Arts enable youth to devleop their creativity and cultural awareness through knowledge and appreciation of the visual arts, crafts, performing arts, music and creative writing.

Youth who are engaged in arts programs do better in school and in their personal lives. Through the arts, kids can gain the confidence, self-esteem, and leadership skills needed to understand that problems may have multiple solutions. They are also able to put their ideas, thoughts and feelings into concrete and abstract forms while gaining the self-motivation needed to reach their full potential; and not just inside of the classroom.

HEALTH & LIFE SKILLS

Boys & Girls Clubs afterschool and summer programs in this area are designed to develop young people’s capacity to engage in positive behaviors that nurture their own well-being, set personal goals and live successfully as self-sufficient adults. These programs include Passport to Manhood, which promotes and teaches responsibility for young men, and SMART Girls, a health, fitness, prevention and self-esteem enhancement program.
