Mr. McAtee is a senior level Executive with a proven track record of success and over 30 years of experience across a wide variety of disciplines and industries. Dan started his career at GE Research and Development where he worked on several military and civilian projects, developing and authoring multiple patents and publications. He continued his career with 18+ years at GE, becoming one of the first Master Black Belts within the Six Sigma Program and holding several senior executive roles, including leading the development of the compact fluorescent lighting program and the development of the commercial and residential electric revenue meter. Dan continued his career leading several private and public businesses ranging in size from $200M to $1.3B as the President of Werner Extruded products, President of Tyco A&E Products, President and CEO of Tree Island Industries, President of Harsco Minerals, President of Dyno Nobel Americas, and President of PosiGen Solar Solutions. He has extensive global M&A and Operational experience having worked and set up business in over 30 countries while living in the US and abroad and now New Orleans.
Dan has served on numerous boards including the Vancouver YMCA Board of Directors as well as serving as a Director on the Sigora International Board, where he also spent time in Northwest Haiti working to bring electricity to towns and people in need. He currently enjoys volunteering with Animal Rescue New Orleans, as well as Zeus’ Rescues. Although not originally from Louisiana, Dan built a house in Uptown and is proud to call New Orleans his permanent home.
The search process was conducted over several months by executive search firm Bell Oaks, in partnership with a committee led by BGCSELA Board Chair Jeremy Hunnewell. A number of Club employees and community partners were engaged to provide input on what traits they find important in a CEO. Applications were received from qualified candidates across the country, all of whom had direct ties to New Orleans. Our search team was tasked with finding someone to set a strategic vision, build effective relationships within the community, and provide organization leadership.
We are excited for Dan to join the BGCSELA family and can’t wait for you to experience his vision for supporting our members. Over the coming months, Dan will be out in the community meeting many of you in person. As you learn about his priorities, strategy and goals for both the Clubs and the community, we know you will be as hopeful about the future as we are.
We thank you for your continued support of the Clubs. Without your generosity, be it time, treasure or talent, we would not be able to support the hundreds of kids who walk through our doors every day.
